WHEN AND WHERE TO VIEW MANHATTANHENGE NYC 2017

manhattanhenge 2Twice a year, the Manhattan street grid rivals that of Stonehenge during summer Solstice when the sun becomes in perfect alignment with the tall buildings of NYC, emulating the stones in England.

The FIRST Manhattanhenge NYC of the 2017 season is Monday,  May 29, 2017 at 8:13pm (half sun on the grid) and Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 8:12pm (full sun on the grid).

The SECOND Manhattanhenge NYC of the 2017 season will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 8:20pm (full sun on the grid) and July 13, 2017 at 8:21pm (half sun on the grid)

Illuminating both the north and south sides of every cross street simultaneously, set in perfect alignment with the East West numbered streets, this is a sight to behold and a PERFECT opportunity to take some spectacular photographs! You’ll see that as the sun sets, half the disk will sit above and half below the horizon in a perfectly symmetric pattern.

For best viewing, position yourself as far east in Manhattan as possible. The clearest view will be 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd and 57th streets, as well as surrounding streets.
