The Spoon River Project

Returning to Green-Wood Cemetery in what the New York Times called  “a true-to-life setting for voices from the dead, ” The Spoon River Project tells the story, accompanied by music, of a fictional town through its residents who have since passed away. Taking place outdoors, under the moonlight and amongst the graves, this classic American work by Edgar Lee Maters has been adapted as a play and is presented by a cast of 11 actors. 

And, for those of you who can brave the spirits, take in a Saturday night midnight show. Arrive early and travel deep into the heart of Green-Wood for a tour of the Catacombs, an historic in-ground vault usually off-limits to the public.

Always a very popular event, Governors Island will play host to the Jazz Age Lawn Party this weekend, June 15-16, 2013 (with a second date scheduled for August 17-18, 2013).
