Another charity event, in the series of four this week (Apollo Theater, Town Hall and Bitter End), The Spin Doctors and “The World’s Greatest Beatles Bands From Around The Globe” will perform your favorite Beatles tunes at the historic Hudson Theater. 

See international bands such as Clube Big Beatles from Brazil, The Norwegian Beatles from Norway, HELP! from Mexico, Blurred Vision from Canada, the New York City School of Rock and the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra along with the Spin Doctors (who will play both Beatles tunes as well as their own greatest hits).

Strawberry Fields: A Tribute to The Beatles 

Love a good tribute band (and, who doesn’t??). Well, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, Strawberry Fields, a look-a-like and sound-a-like band featuring former cast members of Broadway’s hit Beatlemania, will take you on a journey from from 1964 to 1968. Close your eyes and you will think that you’re actually hearing/watching the “real” Beatles, as this group, dressed in authentic costumes, will take you on a Magical Mystery Tour that will feature the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, to Abbey Road, Let It Be to the White Album.

A Celebration in Memory of Sid Bernstein and the 50th Anniversary Beatles Concert at Carnegie Hall

The Bernstein family presents a memorial tribute to Sid Bernstein, known as “The Father of The British Invasion”, and the man instrumental in bringing the Beatles to the United States and subsequently Carnegie Hall, on February 12, 2014.

Having passed away in August 2013 at the age of 95, Bernstein was a legendary promoter who brought not only the Beatles to U.S soil, but The Rascals, The Rolling Stones, Herman’s Hermits, The Moody Blues, and The Kinks.

This memorial evening will not only be filled with music, but also preview excerpts of the film documenting his life  “Sid Bernstein Presents…”

Art and Festivals Celebrating the Beatles 50th Anniversary Around NYC 2014

Considered the mother of all Beatles Fests, the weekend of February 7-9, 2014 will be filled with entertainment by over 100+ bands, musicians and artists at the Grand Hyatt hotel. See Peter Asher, Donovan, Cousin Brucie, Chad & Jeremy, Mark Rivera, tribute band “Liverpool”, historian Mark Lewisohn and many other luminaries at the 40th anniversary of “The Fest For Beatles Fans”.  Port Authority Commemoration of Beatles Arrival at JFK Airport

50 years to the day of the Beatles first landing at the TWA flight center at Kennedy Airport, the Port Authority will hold a commemoration ceremony with the unveiling of an historical airport marker and celebration including live music. Celebrating their arrival, the very first press conference and the start of Beatlemania in the U.S. this event will be hosted by Q104.3 radio personalities Jonathan Clarke of “Out Of The Box,” Ken Dashow of “Breakfast With The Beatles,” and Jim Kerr.

According to the press release, Mark Lapidos, founder of The Fest For Beatles Fans, encourages Beatles fans and screaming girls to “dress for the event, very Beatles and very 60s, carry signs and be ready to honor that magical moment.”

Be sure to reserve your seat for the upcoming symposium on The Beatles at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 9, 2014. 

Expert panels will feature topics and musical luminaries such as: NY Radio Personality Dennis Elsas presents “It Was 50 years Ago Today – The Beatles Invade America” and “Studio Days/Touring Years” presented by Allan Kozinn, Culture Reporter for the New York Times. This event will be hosted by  Bob Santelli, Executive Director of the GRAMMY Museum.

Following the symposium, the gallery photo exhibit, in collaboration with the GRAMMY Museum, will make its debut at the library before travelling the country, and will be open for viewing.

The Beatles Invasion 50-Year Celebration: See The Fab Four on the Big Screen, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

On February 8 and 9, 2014 at 1pm, the Paley Center will be screening one of the most quintessential television shows for all Beatles fans. See, on the big screen, the COMPLETE Ed Sullivan show from February 9, 1964 (the night every young girl screamed!) including commercials, behind-the scenes antics and much more as captured in a cinema vérité documentary from the Maysles brothers.
