Al Hirschfeld: Permanent Exhibit at The Margo Feiden Gallery, throughout Henri Bendels AND NYPL Performing Arts

Best known for his black and white drawings of celebrities and Broadway stars, 75 years of Al Hirschfeld’s work can be seen on permanent display at the Margo Feiden Gallery. Having captured almost every famous performer of the 20th century, Hirschfeld was known for hiding his daughter Nina’s name in his artwork.

Can’t make it downtown to the gallery? ALSO, The Line King’s Library: Al Hirschfeld is at the Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. This is the last weekend to see the exhibit at the New York Public Library marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. On display are works by Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, a letter to Jacqueline Kennedy from Arthur Schlesinger, Jr written within hours after the tragedy and a heart-wrenching photograph by Elliott Erwitt. *FREE*

A Japanese pop icon of the 1990’s, Mariko Mori’s latest solo exhibition Rebirth is taking place at the Japan Society Gallery through January 12, 2014. Featuring 35 sculptures, drawings, videos and photos, this installation traces the continuous circle of life through a visual narrative of birth, death and rebirth. *FREE* Admission Friday 6pm-9pm and Docent led tours are available at 7pm.
